The E2S Board of Directors is pleased to announce, and wishes the community to join us in welcoming, E2S’ new Co-Chair, Ashleigh Cardinal.
Ashleigh (she/they) is a 2 Spirit Nehiyaw Femme from Goodfish Lake, AB who joined E2S in January 2021. She is the newly appointed Co-Chair and also sits as Chair for the Matriarch Council. She has a leadership role within Black and Indigenous Alliance, a grassroots mobilization organization.
Ashleigh is a full-time entrepreneur with a deep-rooted passion for Community Wellness. With the help of finding her way back to home fire through Cultural infusion in all aspects of her medicine wheel, she was able to start a journey of recovery from life-long addiction. Thus, this turn of events lead to the awakening of her desire to give back to others and rally for change within oppressive systems. She enjoys volunteering with Bear Clan Beaver Hills House and Water Warriors YEG. She is an Artist, Nail Tech, Mother and often advocates for Missing, Murdered and Exploited Indigenous People.
She strives to serve and connect the 2 Spirit/Indigiqueer Community with resources and fill systemic gaps, such as: Housing, Cultural Connection, Food Insecurity, Harm Reduction and Outreach Services. She hopes to achieve this by continually learning her role as a leader and 2 Spirit person (through Art, Ceremony, Language revitalization and breaking down societal constructs of gender and sexuality through pre-colonial teachings and a contemporary lens).
